Information, Education and Communications

This programme informs, educates and communicates issues on the state of the environment and impact on sustainable development.  It offers a proactive information and knowledge service that is both informing and empowering target stakeholders to take action that contributes to environment and sustainable development in Swaziland. 

Research is a critical component of the IEC programme.  It informs campaigns undertaken by the organisation as well as providing information and knowledge to target groups and the general public. 

The organisation has established an information centre for information brokerage on environment and sustainable development issues. 

Our Tools: 

(i) Information Resource Centre an information brokering facility with comprehensive environmental and sustainable development information in print and electronic formats. Click here for more on the Information Centre.

(ii) Website www.yongenawe.com is an information portal supporting environmental action in Swaziland

(iii) Newsletter a medium of communication for the exchange of news, views, ideas and knowledge and experiences among our members, partners and stakeholders on environmental issues in Swaziland.  Click here to read previous Yonge Nawe newsletters.

(iv) Radio programme Yonge Nawe’s radio programme called Imvelo Nentfutfuko, helps in bridging the digital knowledge divide between rural and urban communities. Through the radio programme, the organisation is able provide a knowledge and information service to remote communities on environment and sustainable development issues.  The radio broadcasts are aired on Monday morning at 9.30 am.

(v) Newspaper Weekly Column run in partnership with local media organisations to provide public education on topical environment and sustainable development challenges in Swaziland. Click here to read recent newspaper columns.

(vi) Press Releases are prepared and issued as both publicity and advocacy instruments on global environment days and local sustainable development initiatives.  Click here to read recent press releases.

(vii) Mobile Information Service to deliver environmental information to rural communities in an accessible way.
